Have you ever created a flower bed or a garden? It takes a lot of time, sweat and effort to get anything to grow. You have to work the dirt, dig holes, decide what to plant, decide where to plant it, water it, and watch for it to grow. Once it starts to grow, and sometimes before it starts to grow, you have to watch for weeds!! Weeds pop up everywhere! They grow 10 times as fast and 10 times more than whatever you planted at the beginning. If you watch over your garden or flower bed, nurture it, weed it, water it, it will produce beautiful results, and you will enjoy it for a long time. Gardening can be a wonderful way to spend time with the Lord enjoying his beautiful creations.
Our lives are like flower beds. God cultivates us, waters us, and takes care of us. He adds to our lives, watches over us in times of trouble, and watches us grow.
Sin in our lives is like a weed. It may start off tiny, but it grows and multiplies at an exponential rate. It is terrible! If you do not weed out the sin while it is very little, it will take over your life and who you are or who you want to be. Being a Christian takes a lot of maintenance, and we have to spend a lot of time with our Lord, or we will lose sight of our goal.
*Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
– Galatians 6:7-10
*A wicked person earns deceptive wages, but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.
– Proverbs 11:18
*Whoever sows injustice reaps calamity, and the rod they wield in fury will be broken.
– Proverbs 22:8
