The Greatest Christmas Gift!

Dec 22, 2023 | Daily Thoughts | 1 comment

Christmas is only a few days away, and we are looking forward to celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ!

                                                                                       What is Christmas?

“It is the celebration of that historic moment in time when God in the person of Jesus Christ stepped out of heaven into earth in the in the form of a baby to grow up to be a man to walk among men as the Son of God  to forgive man of his sins, to redeem man of his sins and to reconcile him to Himself.”

Dr. Charles Stanley

Jesus was born in Bethlehem on Christmas Day.  The angels rejoiced and the star in the sky was very bright for all to see.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.  An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.  But the angel said to them,  “do not be afraid.  I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.  This will be a sign to you:  You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel,  praising God and saying.

“Glory to God in the highest Heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Luke 2:8-14 (NIV Study Bible)

God loved us so much that he came to earth in a human form, Jesus, to die for us.  His perfect sinless blood was shed to atone for our sins.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16 (NIV Study Bible)

If we believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and that Jesus came to earth to die for us, forgives us when we confess our sins and that he rose from the grave, we will be saved and spend eternity with Him.  It is so simple that it seems impossible, but it is real!

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Romans 10:9-10 (NIV Study Bible)

Thank you for this great reminder of the meaning of Christmas. God drowns us in his blessings and even goes so far to bless us with his son.
